Regenerative cotton, explained
Beyond organic — what 'regenerative' adds, and which brands are actually doing it.
Regenerative agriculture goes further than organic. Where organic certification prohibits synthetic inputs, regenerative actively rebuilds soil — through cover cropping, rotational grazing, and minimal tillage. The Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC) label, launched in 2018, is the strictest version. Only a handful of fashion brands grow ROC cotton end-to-end. Christy Dawn's Farm & Fibre program in Erode, India is one of the most ambitious.
